This Geopark Festival Week take part in the Kents Cavern Ice Fest! Learn about the last Ice Age and the beasts that lived during it.

Ever wondered what life was like during the Ice Age? 

Visit Kents Cavern to find out how to survive in the coolest conditions, living among Ice Age beasts. Head onto our woodland trail for our Ice Age animal hunt! Can you find all the animal panels and piece together the missing word?


  • Palaeo-Table - Learn about Stone Age artefacts and even handle some
  • Pouch Making - Make a leather pouch and scavenge through the woods for resources that might help you survive the Ice Age
  • Stone Age Pendant - Make and decorate your own Stone Age necklace

Book onto one of our activity sessions this half term! Take part in our Ice Age Sessions, an hour and fifteen minute activity session with our Stone Age School gang. Learn how prehistoric people survived in the coldest conditions. Learn how to make fire, using different tools and techniques!

Limited to 10 children per session. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Suitable for children aged 6-12.

ice age animal hunt

As you walk through the woodland trail look out for seven panels telling you about some of things that lived in Torquay during Prehistoric times.

Will you be able to match all nine stations to the activity sheet? Collect your free activity sheet from a member of staff at the ticket desk.

Take part in your own excavation for fossils. Delve deep enough and you may find gemstones to take home.

Design and paint your own caveman! Create your own cave art and don't forget to leave your hand on our Wall of Hands

Cavog's riddle quest

Our lovely mascot Cavog has even made a riddle quest for young explorers at Kents Cavern. Find the clues around his pad, there's an adventure to be had!
