Outline of the job
This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) with responsibility for serving/cooking food and beverages to visitors.
Kents Cavern, is a tourist attraction and renowned prehistoric site situated in Torquay, with a brand-new restaurant facility; Firestone Kitchen. We are looking for a new cook to join our dynamic and friendly team; driving daytime sales and evening events.
The successful candidate will be motivated, focused and above all passionate about food with an eye for detail. We are looking for an adaptable cook who gets excited by local produce and homemade food, who will work with the management team to adapt the menu based on demand. The candidate will also demonstrate an energetic and customer-focused attitude both in the kitchen and in front of house operations, whilst showing exceptional teamwork, organisation and efficiency. The successful candidate will not only show a willingness to learn, but to also drive new forward-thinking initiatives to the business including evening trade, special events and functions. The candidate will also demonstrate a desire for selling and pleasing people.
The candidate will be required to not only support to the kitchen operation which will include cooking and preparing food, but also lead the kitchen operation when required. The role is also customer facing and involves direct and constant interaction with visitors, so successful candidates will show ease and confidence with engaging with the public.
The candidate must be able to deliver consistent quality to varying number of visitors through the application of good preparation and planning.
The role requires the candidate to be able to work daytime and evening shifts on any day of the week. Peak visitors occur at weekends and during holiday periods. Leave is not permitted over bank holiday weekends and during school holidays. Any existing holiday commitments should be noted on your CV and we will take these into consideration when determining your suitability for the role.
