Getting married underground in Kents Cavern is a wonderful experience and will provide your guests with an unusual and lasting memory of your special day.

As the first licensed showcave in the UK to perform weddings, we’ve experienced lots of fantastic and different weddings in the cave. Our team will be with you throughout organising your special day, tailoring it to your needs. We can offer five separate and spectacular underground locations for civil marriages and partnership ceremonies. Each chamber is a unique venue and offers a different aspect of our underground world.

Chambers

The Inscription Chamber - Contains high ceilings and rifts with a stone waterfall dominating the entrance this chamber. The Inscriptions Chamber is deeper in the caves and holds up to 30 guests.

The Vestibule – This impressively large chamber is adorned with a stalagmite chandelier formation. Very close to the entrance this chamber holds up to 80 guests and is the most accessible, including access for wheelchairs.

The Great Chamber - A large chamber at the exit of the cave decorated with display scenes of early explorers and Stone Age life. The Great Chamber is also fairly accessible and holds up to 100 guests.

The Rocky Chamber - An intimate chamber deep in the cave, filled with stalactites and stalagmites including the 'Wedding Cake' formation. Holds up to 30 guests.

The Bears' Den - In a deeper part of the cave, this chamber echoes the sound of falling water and was once home to hibernating cave bears. Holds up to 40 guests.

Times:

Wedding ceremonies can take place from 4.30pm onwards, 7 days a week. We're able to cater from 4 to 100 guests!

Price:

The fee to hire the caves for a wedding ceremony is £1000 (inc VAT). You will need to book the Registrar separately by calling 01803 207130 or visit the Registry Office website

Suggested itinerary

4:30pm	Groom and guests arrive and gather in visitor centre!
4:50pm	Groom and guests led into caves.
4:55pm	Bride arrives, the registrar will ask a few questions, and enter caves to the music of your choice.
5:00pm	Ceremony begins – (20-30 mins).
5:30pm	Signing of the register – background music of your choice.
5:40pm	Wedding couple and guests leave the caves or (optional extra) head towards another chamber for a drinks reception.
6:00pm	Guests depart for wedding reception at another local venue.
