English Riviera walking tours and Kents Cavern are two of the most respected and best known activity providers in Devon. We both welcome guests from across the world and deliver experiences that create lasting positive memories.

The demographic profile of our guests is very similar. So, it made sense to combine our experience and skills set to create curated tours that will offer visitors the chance to enjoy the English Riviera in a unique format.

We have launched two walking/coach tours – the first is themed around Agatha Christie and the second provides guests with an insight into the town’s heritage filled with wonderful anecdotes and stories, including both World Wars, our UNESCO Geopark and characters associated with Torquay such as Oscar Wilde and Basil Fawlty.    

We are available to host tour throughout the year.

Ideally, no less than 2 weeks, but the more notice we receive the better chance we have of matching your preferred dates

We will rely on the Tour Operator to provide a coach and driver for the day

Yes, the minimum number is 15 pax - we can accommodate up to 50 pax

When your enquiry is received, you will receive a quotation. Once it’s approved by the Tour Operator, you will receive a booking confirmation.

24-48 hours before the tour commences, the Tour Guide will connect with the Tour Manager to finalise arrangements.

Yes, the Tour Guide will work with a senior member of the hotel to agree the best room to host the initial presentation. Where possible, we will use the hotel’s projectors and screens to make the presentation.

The Tour Guide will liaise with the Tour Manager before the tour begins to agree a suitable time to start the tour. It’s usually around 10am

Using your coach, we'll pass the places that were significant to Agatha including:

• The Pavilion (where she watched a concert in 1912 with Archibald Christie and afterwards he proposed to her)
• The church where she was baptised
• The hospital and dispensary where she worked during World War 1
• The Grand hotel (she & Archie spent their honeymoon here)
• Torre Abbey (the place where Agatha discovered the man who inspired Hercule Poirot)
• Meadfoot beach (where she regularly swam)
• Torquay train station (the only time Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple were seen together!).

Weather permitting, the Tour Guide will host a short walking tour from Agatha’s new memorial seat at the inner harbour to Torquay pier, where Agatha and her friends would roller-skate, then re-board the coach. The walk is about 1/2 mile, flat, paved with seating and no steps.

These tours are weather-proof! There should never/rarely be an occasion when the tour is postponed for bad weather. If the conditions are unpleasant, the guests will receive a longer presentation at their hotel then board the coach and be taken around Torquay for 1.5 - 2 hours. The Tour Guide and Tour Manager can decide on the day if it’s appropriate to walk when the weather is inclement. At Kents Cavern, the caves protect guests from the elements all year round!

Yes, your guests will receive a private tour which lasts 45 minutes

Kents Cavern is a fairly easy walk. The floors are all fully paved and there is electric lighting throughout as well as handrails at slopes. There are just nine shallow steps within the entire cave system. The tour takes about 45 minutes in total. Wheelchairs and mobility scooters are unable to negotiate past the first chamber. The price includes a cream tea which is typically served after your cave tour at around 14:15. Kents Cavern can provide packed lunches for all guests on request which would be delivered to your hotel on the morning of your visit. Guests can then take this with them as they tour around the English Riviera before they visit Kents Cavern. The cost for this is £6pp and will need to be booked in advance.

Yes, we can offer an alternative to a cream tea. We can provide homemade soup & a roll, pasties, pastry platters or cheese & wine. 

We recommend the operator contacts Kents Cavern directly with details of any guest allergies or intolerances so we can arrange alternative options.

Soup, pasties or a pastry platter are the same cost as a cream tea. A surcharge would apply to cheese & wine packages. To add packed lunches for guests there would be an additional charge of £6pp.

Our price (£29.75pp) will remain fixed for bookings received until 31^st December 2026.

The cut-off time is 4 weeks before the tour begins

Kents Cavern will raise an invoice based on your finalised guest numbers. Payment must be made 4 weeks in advance of the tour.

If we cancel the tour, you will receive a full refund. If the Tour Operator cancels at least 4 weeks before the tour begins, either an alternative date will be offered, or a full refund made. If the Tour Operator cancels with less than 4 weeks notice, there will be no refund. 

No, the coach will remain within Torquay  

Yes, on request we will provide a media pack for Kents Cavern, plus images of the places in Torquay which the coach will visit.
