Agatha's Interesting Connection to Kents Cavern
The legendary crime writer, who was born in Torquay, found inspiration in these ancient caves, incorporating them into her 1924 novel The Man in the Brown Suit. In the book, she reimagined Kents Cavern as "Hampsley Cavern," accurately describing its mysterious atmosphere and even referencing the archaeological discoveries found here.
Christie's ties to Kents Cavern ran even deeper. Her father, Frederick Miller, was a member of the Torbay Natural History Society and played a role in funding excavations of the caves. His support contributed to uncovering the rich prehistoric past that Christie later wove into her fiction.
BOOK NOWThe temperature in the cave is a constant 15°C (58°F) every day of the year. As you will be seated for the duration of the movie, we recommend wrapping up warm. Blankets are available to hire from us (limited quantity available), or you are welcome to bring your own. Please be aware, the caves are a natural environment and you may get dripped on from time-to-time!
Seating is unallocated, allowing you to choose your spot once inside the caves. While we cannot guarantee seats together, our team will do their best to accommodate group seating wherever possible.

Cave Cinema welcomes guests of all ages. It generally is most suited to those aged 3+ due to the dark and chilly nature of the caves.
We do ask, if bringing children along, that should they become upset during the movie they are accompanied to the visitors centre so as not to disturb other visitors.
